Employee Benefits Program
ESA’s programs and services are designed to empower all people with the skills,
knowledge and education to wisely manage their finances and to accomplish their
worthwhile personal, family and community goals.
ESA offers this program in addition to compliment your company’s Employee’s
Benefits
Package, since stress from personal money problems can spill over into the
workplace.
ESA currently has a number of delivery systems for workplace financial
education. These include one-on-one financial counseling, budget and
credit counseling, debt management, seminars and workshops, lunch-and-learn
sessions, computer-generated financial decision making (debt-end-software),
telephone “hotline” on financial concerns, video and audio tapes and
workbooks. ESA workshop presentation outlines and educational
materials provided upon request.
-
Three-fourths of all workers report that they have recently faced at least one
significant financial problem, such as being unable to save for future needs,
delaying medical care, or having difficulty with a collection agency.
-
Two-thirds say they have trouble paying their bills on time and worry about
money.
-
More than 50% of women say that an unexpected bill for $1,000 would be a big
problem for their household.
-
Nearly half of the nation’s 128 million workers have yet to begin participating
in an employer-sponsored retirement plan. Of those who do save and
invest, the Employee Benefits Research Institute reports that the mean
retirement plan portfolio is only $37,000 and the median is less than $12,000.
AMERICAN EXPRESS STUDY
A recent study by American Express Financial Advisors revealed that 85% of
employees want to receive financial information in the workplace because almost
¼ of workers are experiencing money problems.
